My Boats

Started this one now so moved it from future projects to my boats. This is based on a 1/16 hull of a tyler boat companies 76 foot patrol boat that was moulded for vosper thornycroft in the 80's. The hull comes out at 58 inches long by 16 wide. The hull was moulded by tyler boat companies chief moulder who was a friend of my fathers, i have two of his hulls and they are superb. So the boat is based fairly loosely on a design for the Royal Omani police by BMT ship designers to be built by ares shipbuilding.

This is the full size vessel mine i have modified with a crane launched rib on the stern. Have now got to the stage where the bridge is done, deck painted and painting hull. Made the 30mm cannon on the bow and have bought two machine guns for the bridge and a minigun for the rib. You can see from the photos that the rib is pretty much built now having had a waterjet fitted. The superstructure is about 90 percent there with full working lights, working radar, a rear facing flood light and blue lights and a siren. Another shot shows the radio gear with a servo mounting board with four servos with cams to control all the extra functions. I have also received a Linear Actuator for the stern door. The tug is built on a model slipway Wyeforce hull with the superstructure semi freelance but based loosely on a Damen small tug.It has a fully furnished interior but is built for pushing around the big type 45. To do this she has been slightly overpowered with the five bladed ducted propellers being pushed around by two graupner 900 brushed motors which can be powered by either 6 or 12 volt lead acid. On 12 volt care has to be taken as it thinks it's a speed boat.

The Shadow by Shg is one of those boats that in the 70's and 80's was a very pretty boat and powered by the recommended 21ci size i/c motor was a good mover. It was a boat i had wanted from an early age due to seeing the adverts in model boats magazine but being a mere slip of a lad was unable to afford.

Then about 3 years ago i went to a boot fair near where i lived and there on a general junk stall was a shadow complete with os21. I can only assume the gentleman on the stall had little idea what it was as he let me have it for a fiver. Value in anyones book.

I have since removed the i/c engine and replaced it with a rather small but high kv brushless motor with speed controller and i tine 7.4v 2200mah lipo. This boat has a suprisingly impressive turn of speed with enough torque to lean the boat over at speed. Probably due to it's unknown past it is quite tatty but i prefer to leave it original and it is now an unusual sight in the model boating population.

The eboat is built on an old ABCO fibreglass hull to a scale of 1/24 giving a model length of 57 inches. It is powered by three shafts with the outer shafts having each an FTX 550 brushed motor powered by a 6v lead acid battery for manouverability and endurance. The inner shaft has a forward only 550   sized 3900 kv brushless motor powered by a lipo battery for speed.

She is based on the s38 type second iteration of the eboat with two torpedo tubes two 20mm cannon and a 40mm cannon. Intend in the future to fit mines on the stern.

She had to have a major rebuilt about 5 years ago after being blown off of a table at an event.
